Rokna News Agency Report about PECS

PECS is a unique alternative/augmentative communication system developed in 1985 by Andy Bondy and Lori Frost. PECS was first implemented with preschool students diagnosed with Autism at the Delaware Autism Program. The goal of this method is to strengthen the communication skills of autistic children and expand self-motivated communication in different environments such as home, school, and recreational settings. PECS is an educational method used for children with autism disorder and especially for children with communication problems.

The DoosteAutism charity, with continuous efforts after four years, by raising the level of quality and changes and implementing the PECS method, was able to hold the first preliminary PECS method workshop in the summer of 1401 with the teaching of Dr. Saeed Hassanzadeh. Dr. Hassanzadeh emphasized that using the PECS method can help the speech development of children and adolescents with Autism and explained: Although the primary goal of teaching the PECS method to autistic people is that they can communicate with others from pictures. Many children and teenagers with non-verbal autistic disorder have benefited from verbal speech after taking PECS courses while learning to communicate effectively with those around them.
