Description
Yalda Night or Cheleh Night is one of the ancient Iranian celebrations, just like Chaharshanbe Suri and Nowruz Eid, which starts at sunset on the last day of autumn and ends with sunrise on the first day of winter. Yalda night, both before and after Islam, has a special place in Iranian culture and has always been considered an incentive for the gathering of distant and near relatives, a basis for more communication and a stronger bond between families.
Our ancestors spent this night celebrating and stomping around the fire until the morning. They used to sit around fruits such as watermelons, melons, pomegranates, apples, persimmons, etc. Although modern life and daily troubles have created a distance between the people of Iran and the traditions and rituals of the past, still the manifestations of the special traditions of ancient Iran can be seen on days like Yalda night.
